Let's embark on this journey together, shall we?

Understanding Breathwork

What is Breathwork?

Breathwork isn't just about taking a few deep breaths; it's a sacred practice that allows us to tap into our own healing power. Think of it as an intimate dance with your breath—a way to realign your energy and foster deep connections with yourself and the world around you. It's about creating space for peace, love, and understanding in your life.

The Benefits of Breathwork for Inner Peace

When you embrace breathwork, you're not just learning to breathe; you're unlocking the door to self-discovery and emotional healing. Imagine releasing stress and tension, finding clarity amidst chaos, and nurturing your emotional wellbeing—all through the art of intentional breathing.

Let’s face it; modern life can be overwhelming! But with breathwork, you can harness that beautiful life force within you, leading to a vibrant existence filled with peace and connection.

Key Breathwork Techniques to Cultivate Inner Peace

1. Diaphragmatic Breathing

Let's start with the foundational technique that brings you back to your centre: diaphragmatic breathing. This one's a gem! It's all about engaging that lovely diaphragm of yours and pulling in the deep, nourishing breath that fills you with life.

How to Practice Diaphragmatic Breathing

  1. Find a comfy spot to settle into—maybe a quiet nook or your cosy spot in the garden.
  2. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly. Feel that connection!
  3. Inhale deeply through your nose; let that belly rise like the sun at dawn while keeping your chest relaxed.
  4. Now, let it all go with a slow exhale through your mouth, like a gentle wave retreating.
  5. Repeat for a blissful 5-10 minutes, feeling the warmth of life filling your soul.

2. Box Breathing

Next up, let's explore the fabulous technique of box breathing. This powerful method brings structure to your breath and serenity to your soul—much like a sturdy box that holds all your treasures!

Step-by-Step Guide to Box Breathing

  1. Inhale through your nose for a count of four—feel that energy flowing in.
  2. Hold your breath for a count of four—embrace that stillness.
  3. Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of four—let it all out, darling!
  4. Hold your breath again for a count of four—just float there for a moment.
  5. Repeat and experience how each cycle grounds you deeper into inner peace.

3. 4-7-8 Breathing Technique

Now, let's talk about the magnificent 4-7-8 breathing technique. This one's a true powerhouse for relaxation! Created to pull you away from stress and anxiety, it's time to nurture your mind and spirit.

The Science Behind the 4-7-8 Technique

  1. Inhale quietly through your nose for a count of four—let that life force fill you up.
  2. Hold for a count of seven—notice that gorgeous stillness.
  3. Exhale completely through your mouth for a count of eight—release everything heavy.
  4. Repeat this practice and feel your tension melt away like frost in the sun.

4. Presence Breathing

I am thrilled to introduce you to my unique technique: Presence Breathing. This powerful practice was designed specifically for my face-to-face clients to enhance the energy healing process we embark on together. It’s about empowering you to reconnect with your innate capabilities, allowing for true and full recovery across body, mind, and soul.

Presence Breathing helps regulate your nervous function and aligns your body, mind, and soul. Through this practice, you learn to separate your Whole Aware Self from the 'Wounded Self,' enabling profound healing. The magic happens as you learn to witness and observe your wounds rather than being consumed by them, elevating your physical resonance to match that of both your conscious vibration and of your conscious desires.

How to Practice Presence Breathing

  1. Begin with a long, slow inhale, circling the breath at the top to feel it fill your nasal passages going around the nasal cavity and right the way back down again in one full breath.
  2. Slowly exhale, holding the breath at the bottom of the exhale for as long as feels comfortable.
  3. Gradually extend the length of each inhale and exhale, holding the breath for longer and longer at the bottom of each exhale until eventually you are unaware of the breathing cycle at all.
  4. The hold of the breath will feel as natural as life itself eventually.
  5. From here time will literally stop, and from there your Whole Aware Self will become the witness to the Wounded Selves playing out in the field around you.
  6. As you breath in and out, you will be focused firmly on the body itself noticing where you mind goes to, what visions you see, how your body feels vibrationally or resonantly, what memories from past pop up, how you think, feel etc.
  7. With each extended hold of the breath, you will drop deeper and deeper into the body itself until you notice that the Wounded Self feels less intense, the thoughts dissipate, the sensations relax and you move onto the next Wounded Self, the next memory etc.
  8. And so on until your body feels like speeding up again and your mind starts to think more clearly of present-day thoughts, your eyes open naturally by themselves or your hands or feet feel the need to move / stretch etc.
